The Challenge

Azteca tortilla products are sold fresh in the refrigerated section of grocery stores on a flat shelf, creating a challenging visibility issue. Damen Jackson was chosen to help redesign and invigorate the packaging graphics to maximize impact in this challenging environment.

The Approach

We improved overall brand impact, legibility and shopability using bright color coding, a larger-than-life Azteca logo and easy-to-read copy to maximize distinction among product types. By putting these elements toward the bottom of pack, consumers could easily distinguish products on the flat refrigerator shelf.

The Results

With this modernized design, impactful color palette and intuitive communication elements, Azteca became a more popular consumer choice as the healthier, preservative-free tortilla.
